A Special Issue on: Intelligent Cloud Technologies Enabled Solutions for Next Generation Smart Cities
Introduction
In a smart city there are tremendous technologies, softwares and applications which link devices, fetches and manages data from a set of devices such as; sensors that generate real time information, intelligence and analytics which aims to transform the overall city in a smart technology enhanced city. Smart cities have tremendous technologies, software, and applications that connect devices and retrieve, and manage data from a variety of devices, including: sensors that generate real-time information, intelligence, and analytics aimed at transforming an entire city into a city with enhanced smart technology.
Most of this ICT framework is an intelligent network of connected objects and machines (also known as digital cities) that transfer data using wireless technology and the cloud. Cloud-based IoT applications receive, analyze, and manage data in real time to enable municipalities, businesses, and citizens to make better quality of life decisions. Citizens are involved in the smart city ecosystem in a variety of ways using smartphones, mobile devices, connected cars and homes. Combining devices and data with the city's physical infrastructure and services can reduce costs and improve sustainability. Municipalities can use the IoT to improve energy distribution, streamline waste collection, reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality.
Objective
The prime objective of this proposed special issue is to present new advancements in theories, systems, methods, algorithms, and applications in smart cities using intelligent cloud technologies and architectures. It will explore the novel ideas and research toward the recent developments in smart cloud systems and architectures. Unpublished, unknown research work describing advanced prototypes, systems, tools and techniques and general survey papers indicating future directions are also encouraged. This special issue aims to provide a unique venue for young researchers, engineers, and practitioners to submit their recent research findings concerning the advances and emerging applications of intelligent cloud solution for the next generation smart cities.
